Small Schools Running Relay Congratulations
Congratulations to our Small Schools Running Relay Team (Charlie, Arabella, Jed and Emily), who represented our school with pride in Sydney last Thursday. Their effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship were outstanding, and we are very proud of their achievements.
Boorowa Touch and Netball Carnival
Last week, our students took part in the Boorowa Touch and Netball Carnival, enjoying a fantastic day of sport, teamwork, and friendship. Our students displayed excellent spirit, cooperation, and sportsmanship throughout the event.
A big thank you to Miss Washbrook for her careful preparation, and to Mrs Harveyson, Mr Martens, and Mrs Hunter for guiding and supporting the students on the day. We also sincerely appreciate the students from The Henry Lawson High School who assisted as umpires and referees, and our parents who transported and cheered on the students. Your support made the day possible!

Grandparents Day Celebration
Our Grandparents Day celebration was a joyful occasion! Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Communion Service with Deacon Joe, visited classrooms, and shared morning tea. It was a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community to honour the special role grandparents play in our students’ lives.
We would also like to extend our thanks to Mrs Best, Mrs Caruana, Mrs Green, and all staff for their contributions to this special morning, and to the parents who kindly provided delicious treats for morning tea. We truly appreciate you all!

Miss Washbrook has organised an amazing itinerary full of meaningful and engaging experiences, and we are sure the students will make wonderful memories. We look forward to hearing all about their adventures upon their return!

She and her pony Nulla performed admirably, achieving 5th place in the first round of Show Jumping and 13th in the second round, giving an overall 10th place out of 64 entries.

School Engagement Survey
Have your say! The new annual School Engagement Survey is launching mid-November, and you will have the opportunity to reflect on your experiences at the school as a parent or guardian and provide feedback.
Your feedback will be valuable to help us understand how to better support your child and improve our school.
The new survey has been developed with the support of JWS Research. It will take around 10-15 minutes to complete, and your responses will be kept completely confidential and only reported at an aggregate level.
You can expect the 2025 School Engagement Survey to be distributed through Compass as a News Item and push notification in the coming days! If you have any issues accessing the survey link, please contact the Catholic Education Office through the following email address: Strategy.Survey@cg.catholic.edu.au

REC News
Dear Parents and Community,
The month of October is dedicated as World Mission Month throughout the Catholic Church. It is a time we spend learning about charity and the preference for the poor — some of the special values at the heart of the Catholic Social Teachings.
Catholic Social Teachings

During this month especially, we explore what it means to love our neighbour the way Jesus taught us and how we can show kindness and generosity to those who need it most. Even the smallest act of love can make a big difference!
As part of our Religious Education Curriculum, these Catholic Social Teachings are interwoven throughout each class program.
As an example of this, during October, we have seen the 5/6 class, together with Miss Washbrook, promote and coordinate contributions to Operation Christmas Child.
Operation Christmas Child, though not a project of Catholic Mission, embodies a hands-on way for us to demonstrate God’s love to children in need across the world by filling shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and fun gifts. The boxes are collected and distributed to children living in vulnerable situations.
Year 5/6 were successful in filling fifteen boxes which is an amazing effort by the whole school community. The local Operation Christmas Child coordinator was very appreciative. Well done all, especially 5/6 and Miss Washbrook.

We are now gearing up for our Catholic Mission Fundraiser on Friday 31st October.

Our annual Socktober Mission Day Fundraiser is fast approaching, and preparations are well underway.
The program for the day is as follows:
- Whole School Mission Day Liturgy in the School Library
- Shared Recess-please bring a plate to share
- Students versus Grown ups Penalty Sock Ball Shootout
- Group rotational fundraising activities.
Why Socktober
The iconic symbol of Socktober is a tattered, recycled ball made of socks, t-shirts, and plastic bags tied with string, representing the essence of the event.
Decades ago, a young boy named Jorge Mario Bergoglio played with a similar ball on the streets of Buenos Aires. He later became Pope Francis, but he always cherished sport and had a special connection with children from impoverished communities through this shared experience.
Catholic Mission is the Pope’s international Mission agency in Australia. The organisation partners with communities, helping them to flourish by supporting grassroots projects, including healthcare, education, and spiritual care.
All funds raised on Socktober Mission Day will be donated to Catholic Missions to be distributed in Zambia, the focus of the 2025 project.
Make sure to send lots of loose change so that we can make a wonderful contribution to this worthy cause.
Catherine McAuley
During Term Four, our Catherine McAuley focus will be on the characteristic of respect. All the students have been able to share the story of ‘Do unto Otters’-a wonderfully simple storybook with an important message for all of us.
