Principals Report

Henry Lawson Festival - School’s Drama Day

The Grenfell Dramatic Society are organising the Schools’ Play Day for primary and infants students again this year.

The aim is to encourage participation in stage performance and give students the opportunity to be creative with characterisation, costume, voice, movement and sound. Play Day also offers students an opportunity to gain confidence on stage in front of an audience and an adjudicator. The organiser's hope the children will achieve an understanding of what is involved in preparing and presenting a performance, and above all realise the importance of TEAMWORK – that everyone’s contribution is vital for the successful presentation of a play.

Students will be travelling by bus to the Public School.

Parents are invited to join the audience. We have been advised that, in fairness to the performers, members of the audience will only be permitted entry BEFORE the start of a session and at the completion of a play.

Please ensure that you have provided consent for your child to attend on Compass next week.

Henry Lawson Festival - Parade

Students are invited to join with the school in participating in the Henry Lawson Festival Parade on Saturday 7th June. Please meet us at Short Street at 12:45 pm for a 1 pm start. The theme of the festival is 'The World Is Full Of Kindness' and, for the Parade, ‘Kindness Is My Superpower’. Students are asked to wear a plain, single coloured top/ jumper and black or denim bottoms. They are also encouraged to wear a cape.

We look forward to seeing as many students and parents as possible in attendance.

Uniform and hats

A reminder that students are required to wear full Winter uniform, including ties and hats. Spare hats are not available due to the risk of sharing head lice (which we have recently had cases of at school). Please help support your child to ensure they are prepared for school and bring their necessary items.

Jump into Joey's 2025

Our first two Jump into Joey's sessions have been held this term, with the participating children from the Grenfell Preschool Star Room taking part in activities designed to explore physical education through motor skill and fun games, as well as explore the world of stories. The children then stayed for recess and playtime with the St Joseph’s students.

Our next Jump into Joey's session is on Tuesday 10th June. All children starting school in 2026 are invited to attend, regardless of school choice. If not attending with the pre-school, please ensure that you sign your child in at the front office.

Lunch Orders

A gentle reminder that lunch orders are due in on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We are very fortunate that we have the support of our local businesses to provide this service to our students, however they are small teams and need the time to prepare the orders. This preparation is often done the day before and it makes their task difficult when the order is taken in late.

Andrew Chinn Concert

We are looking forward to the upcoming singer/ songwriter Andrew Chinn Concert on Friday 6th June. This has been in the pipeline since last year and we are excited to finally be able to welcome Andrew to St Joseph’s School, Grenfell! Andrew's incredible energy and musical magic will be sure to inspire every child to feel confident and ready to shine.

Warm Regards,

Danielle McFarlane and Chelsea Harveyson
