Class Happenings - 2/3/4

In Religious Education this term students are discussing ideas about God’s relationship with the Jewish people as described in some Old Testaments stories. They express their ideas about God’s presence and action in daily life experiences by selecting and using information, ideas and events in texts including key stories from the Torah; images of God used by the human authors of Old Testament scriptures; and prayers attributed to the saints. Students will develop their understanding of God's Word in Scripture as they use the Bible's referencing system to locate books, people, places and things in the Bible and engage with a variety of books, videos and text types about the Old Testament and New Testament. Students will also choose a ‘hero’ or saint and complete a research activity.

Science – Physical World

Students explore different ways in which heat is produced, e.g. by electricity, burning (chemical) and friction (motion). They observe the effects of heat moving from one object to another, e.g. the feeling when hands are placed in warm or cold water. They describe how people use scientific knowledge in their work and everyday life to control the movement of heat from one object to another, e.g. a potholder, insulated bags or thermos.

Through this unit, students will; investigate the effect of forces on the behaviour of objects, e.g. dropping, bouncing or rolling objects observe the way the force of gravity pulls objects towards the Earth, e.g. dropping objects from different heights observe everyday situations where the direct contact force (friction) affects the movement of objects on different surfaces,

Creative Art – Drama

This term we are continuing our study into Claude Monet. Students have collected a number of images and are writing their script for a green screen production of a virtual trip to France, which will give students the opportunity to showcase their acting talents.

PDH – eSafety

The activities included in this unit are designed for students using devices at school and at home. Students will develop skills in using device and app security settings to prevent unwanted contact and protect their information. Students are also reminded of the appropriate use of technology in the classroom. We have also discussed appropriate web sites to use for research; students have been made aware of websites that have the following in their names, .org, .gov, .edu.

These abbreviations should safe and reliable searching.
