Dear parents and carers,

Congratulations to everyone on your efforts at the swimming carnival last week.  It was excellent to see students choosing to participate and support their teammates.

The event was closely contested with all teams being separated by just 10 points.

Dominic was the winning house on the night!

Thank you to everyone who came along to our swimming carnival. In particular, I would like to acknowledge and thank Elle, Isobel, Megan, Nichola, Jenny, Lily, Xanthe and Frank for their assistance to enable us to use the electronic timing system. 

Thank you also goes to Leann, Susan and Amelia who made sure that we were all safe on the night.

Thank you also to Sarah, Somara, Katie, Vanessa, Rob and Scott for acting as timekeepers.

Thank you also goes to Mrs Best and Ms Schneider for your efforts in preparing for the event.

Good luck to our Western Region Swimming team – the WR carnival is set down for Monday at West Wyalong.  We look forward to hearing about your successes next week.

Parent Information Evening — our Parent information evening will be held tonight beginning at 5:30pm. We are looking forward to meeting you and sharing with you, information about your child’s class in 2021. 

Please remember to sign in on arrival at the Library.

Compass – We have begun the process of transitioning to the greater use of the Compass program here at school.  Currently we use the system for roll marking, however it has many features that will be turned on in the near future. In the coming weeks, aspects of the Parent Portal will come online and will be available for you to use.  In the initial phase, we will move to using the portal for parents to do things like submit absences, provide consents, and check important school messages through a simple APP.

More information about the parent portal will be sent home in the coming weeks.

School counsellor – our school counsellor program will look somewhat different in 2021 as we are participating in an Archdiocesan pilot program with the staff from Royal Far West.  We have also looked to fill the School Chaplain’s position and information about this was sent home earlier in the week.  This recruitment process is being conducted the Recruitment Team at Catholic Education.

Safer internet day – on Tuesday it was safer internet day.  The website listed below contains tips for maker use of the internet safer at your home.  I encourage you to take the time to check out the information contained on this site.

Sport – information about the different sporting trails that are available this year is attached to this newsletter.  If you would like further information about these trials, please contact Mrs. Best.

Annual General Meeting – the AGM for the St Joseph’s Parents and Friends Association will be held on Tuesday February 16, 2021 in the School Library commencing at 7:00pm – all welcome

NITS - Please be aware that there have been some reports of nits around our community.  Please take the time to check your child and taken action as needed, thank you for being proactive with this situation.

Book Club – flyers were sent home this week, please finalise your orders by Wednesday, 17 February 2020.

Uniform orders – an order form is attached for those in need of additional uniforms.  Please return all orders to school by Friday February 12.
