Principal's Report
Dear parents and carers,
In recent days our community has faced numerous challenges and we extend our thoughts and prayers to those directly affected by these events.
Yesterday I travelled to Canberra to attend the Mass to celebrate 200 years of Catholic education in Australia. It was a wonderful celebration to be a part of.
We are now well into the Lenten season, a time of refection in preparation for the coming Easter season. This is a time to reflect and consider way of being. Perhaps this year we might consider different ways of fasting…
The Parent Commitment Agreement developed by Catholic Education was sent home last week for you to sign and return to school, thank you to those families who have already returned this document to school. If you have any queries, please make contact.
Tomorrow sees us enjoy our first MUFTI Day for 2021. Children can choose to wear Mufti clothes to school and bring a gold coin donation – we collect these donations to support various Catholic Missions activities. This is a simple way for us to be of help to someone in need. Please remember to be sun smart in your choice of clothes and everyone needs to wear their school hat and closed in shoes.
Our mini vegie gardens are taking shape with strawberries, carrots, snow peas and sugar snaps being planted this week. Already we are predicting how yummy the crops might be…
Our Japanese lessons are progressing well. K/1/2 certainly had an interesting way of committing the Japanese numbers 1 to 10 to memory!
Thank you to those families who have ensured that school jumpers are clearly labelled, this is very helpful when returning jumpers to the right family.
Archdiocesan Swimming - Good luck to Genevieve, Saskia and India who will progress to the Archdiocesan carnival in the coming weeks. Our small schools relay team also gained a nomination to attend the Archdiocesan swimming carnival in Narooma. We look forward to hearing about your successes.
NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge – preparations are underway for our children to participate in this year’s challenge. Further information will be sent home in the coming days. The children can include challenge books that have already read this term.
Book Fair – we will have a book fair from March 8-12. Once the books arrive, we will preview these, and parents are welcome to come along and check out the books too!
More information about the book fair will be coming home shortly.
Cross Country Run – preparations are underway for our cross-country race on Wednesday March 17.
Please be aware that from time to time we have trouble with the landline telephones. If you are not able to get through to us on the land lines, please try our school mobile – 0407 401 054.
Next week, I will be participating the principal’s meeting for Term 1.
Take care and stay safe,
