The K-2 students have been talking about places in and around their homes, and their community, that are special to them. Some students talked about their cubbyhouses or bedrooms or their Nan’s house as their special place, but one student talked about visiting her grandmother’s grave at the cemetery as a place that was special to her and her family, as it was a way to remember their Nan.

As we prepare to participate in the Anzac Day celebrations on Sunday, the K-2 students have been learning about the Cenotaph and some of the symbols and rituals that are significant to Anzac Day. Even at their age, these young students recognise the importance of remembering and honouring the brave soldiers who fought and died for our country.

We hope that you will find the time to join us for the Anzac Day march on Sunday in honour and remembrance of past and present service men and women.

Sacramental News

This year, St Joseph’s Parish will be celebrating the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

The meetings for the Confirmation candidates will begin on Tuesday the 4^th of May at 6 pm in the St Joseph’s School Library. A parent is expected to attend the meetings with their child. This year the meetings will occur each week for four weeks. Children in Years 5 and 6 (or older) who have already received the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion will be eligible to join the Confirmation preparation group.

The preparation for Reconciliation and First Holy Communion will take place later in the year and these are prepared for, and celebrated usually within a week of each other.
