From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Mother's Day

A beautiful Mother’s Day breakfast and assembly was held last Friday in honour of our amazing Mothers and Grandmothers.
The students served breakfast prior to presenting class performances. Each student in Year 5/6 attempted to persuade everyone as to who was ‘Mother of the Year’, Year 2/3/4 read an impressively written big book about Mothers and Kindergarten and Year 1 presented a special prayer.
Thank you to everyone who was able to come along. It was a wonderful morning!

Jump into Joey's - Move It!

Our first Jump into Joey's session was held on Friday 5th May, with the participating children from the Grenfell Preschool Star Room taking part in activities designed to explore movement and coordination. These activities aimed to improve the children's fitness, balance, hand-eye coordination, gross motor skills and self-confidence. The children then stayed for recess and playtime with the St Joseph’s students.
As part of our Catholic School's week celebrations, and while the children were enjoying lots of fun, prospective and current parents enjoyed open classrooms and morning tea with myself and staff. It was a great opportunity to showcase all that our wonderful school has to offer.
If you were not able to join us and would like to book a tour of our school, please phone 6343 1514. Our next Jump into Joey's session is on Wednesday 24th May. All children starting school in 2024 are invited to attend, regardless of school choice. If not attending with the pre-school, please ensure that you sign your child in at the front office.

Lunch Orders

A gentle reminder that lunch orders are due in on Mondays and Wednesdays. We are very fortunate that we have the support of our local businesses to provide this service to our students, however they are small teams and need the time to prepare the orders. This preparation is often done the day before and it makes their task difficult when the order is taken in late, which is frequently occuring.

Staffing Update

Phoebe Baker has made the difficult decision to resign from her Student Welfare Officer position on Fridays, due to family reasons. I would like to thank Phoebe for her contribution to St Joseph's and wish her all the best for the future. Phoebe's position has been advertised, so please share with anyone that may be interested.
Furthermore, I would like to add a heartfelt thanks to the members of our school community that have reached out to me after my announcement last week, that I am resigning at the end of the term. Your kind words and messages of support are deeply appreciated. This was a very difficult decision for me to make, as I have loved my time at the school, but as mentioned in my announcement, my decision to leave and step back from work, is based on the fact that family circumstances have changed and as a result I do not believe that I can adequately juggle the requirements of principalship with the additional time that will be required to meet my family’s needs.
St Joseph’s is a beautiful school and has a wonderful, dedicated staff and it has been a privilege for me to lead it over the last year and a half.
Kind thoughts,
