Dear Parents and Carers,

During a routine compliance check of the preschool and facilities being used at St Joseph’s, it was noted that there were some areas in the hall where the paint was flaking. During subsequent testing, the paint was found to have traces of lead.

To ensure the safety of all

• the preschool has ceased operation from the hall
• Breakfast Club has been suspended
• a representative from Catholic Education has visited the site and is organising remediation of the problem and repainting of the building
• children in the school will not be using the hall

Please note other areas of the school are not effected and the hall is the only place in the school with the problem.

We will keep families informed as we receive further advice and information.

It has been an absolute delight to work in your beautiful school this week. The staff and children have provided a warm and friendly welcome to a visitor from the city. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to attend the Mass for Mission with the school and share in the prayer life of the school. I count this week as a blessing.
