Dear parents and carers,
The most important message for this week is about Tuesday’s St Joseph’s School Community Information session. The opportunity for this information session about the future leadership of our school was requested by the School Advisory Committee and will be led by Mary-Jane Carroll-Farjada from CE. I invite all parents and carers to join us for this meeting on Tuesday the 10th of August at 7 pm. You will receive an invitation to join the meeting (remotely via Teams) on Thursday. More information can be found in the attached letter.
I have received a parent request for a photo view of the newly renovated top block of classrooms. Although the space is the same, the removal of some of the larger cupboards has opened up the rooms and made the whole space feel much larger. I will keep you updated with more photos when the glass doors are installed.
You can also see how high up the pinboards reach. This makes displaying student work and teaching and learning posters and provocations so much easier.
Covid restrictions
We are continuing to operate under the no visitors except essential workers rule provided to us by CE.
For this reason, regular canteen orders will not be available next week. Students will be able to order the following items at lunch time only: party pies, Mrs Mac’s beef pie, chicken wedges, sausage roll, garlic bread and noodle cup (chicken). There are no fruit boxes available. The new items for purchase will be fizzy juices. They contain carbonated fruit juice only- no added sugar.
The flavours available are apple, raspberry and lemonade. The cost per tin is $2.50.

Last Friday July 30, the whole school gathered for a NAIDOC Prayer celebration. NAIDOC Week is celebrated every July in Australia. It is an important way for Australians to recognise and celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The prayer included below was prayed by everybody together to close this special NAIDOC prayer celebration.
God of all creation, as we journey together in this Great Southern Land,
We pray for healing, forgiveness, and unity,
Creating a path of good will, with justice and compassion.
Jesus, through the power of your love,
You have given us the courage, wisdom, and strength
To share our gifts and talents in humility.
In peace and understanding we reconcile with each other.
Creator Spirit, we come together in prayer and thanksgiving
For the many blessings we have received.
Allow your Spirit to wash over us and give us strength to walk together as one.
Aboriginal Elders and Reconciliation Church staff members (2014)
Thank you to all students for their reverent participation, and those who took on leading parts.
STUDENT PRAYER OF THE WEEK Written by Stella Fanning Dear God, Thank you for our wonderful world and all the wonderful things in it such as the colours of the rainbow, the trees that help us breathe, and our families who love us so much. Thank you also to our friends who make us laugh. Help us to keep our world safe and healthy. Amen |
VINNIES WINTER APPEAL Thank you to those children and their families who dropped off goods to school for the St Vincent de Paul Society Winter Appeal. These were gratefully received by St Vincent De Paul. If you would still like to donate, you may do so by dropping off items at our school’s front office. Donations of blankets, jumpers, scarves, socks, coats, and so on, will be gratefully received. Your immense generosity will help support those experiencing additional burdens during winter. |
READERS AT SUNDAY MASS As part of St Joseph’s Church Sunday mass, we would welcome students to be involved as readers. This would involve them reading the set readings of the week to the congregation, and is great public speaking practise! If your child would be interested in this opportunity, please let me know. A Sunday date that suits your family needs can then be arranged. |
SACRAMENTS OF RECONCILIATION AND HOLY COMMUNION As part of getting ready for these very special sacraments, workshops will be scheduled. Further information regarding the sacramental workshops will be announced later in the term. Please let Miss Schneider know if you would like your child to be involved in this. |
