Dear Parents and Carers,
What another beautiful week of warm weather and sunshine that we have enjoyed! The students have been making use of our beautiful, large playground and enjoying each other’s company.
St Joseph’s Feast Day Celebration
St Joseph’s Feast Day was last Saturday, and we celebrated with a beautiful Liturgy prepared by Mrs King. Students placed symbols of Joseph they had made on a traditional, three-tiered St Joseph's Table. It was very impressive! Thank you to the parents and families that were able to join us, it was lovely to have you celebrating with us again.
Staff Professional Learning
On Monday, Mrs King, Mr Martens and Mrs McFarlane went to St Mary’s Young to participate in professional learning related to High Impact Teaching. They were fortunate to observe our coach from Cog Learn, Sharyn Angel in action as she modelled what best practise Daily Review looks like. Staff had the opportunity to network with teachers at Young who are also on the same professional learning journey, which allowed for rich conversations and collaboration. The teachers from Young will come to Grenfell for Day 3 next term.
Interim Reports & Interviews
Term 1 Interim Reports will be sent home with students on Friday. This report provides an opportunity for parents see how their child has started the new school year and any areas for development.
Parents will be invited to attend an interview with their child’s teacher on Monday 28th March, with timeslots from 3:30pm-5:30pm. Information on how to book a time will be sent via Compass tomorrow, so please ensure you read the instructions and book a timeslot over the weekend. If the provided times do not suit please contact your child’s teacher directly to book an alternative:

Swimming lessons
Today will be the final swimming lesson. Thank you to Grenfell Aquatic Centre and Leann, Susan and helpers for providing high quality lessons to our students. They have enjoyed their time with you and look forward to them next year.
Volunteers
Now that restrictions have eased and we are allowed to have visitors on-site again, we are hoping to get volunteers in to help get some projects and ideas up and running. If you can offer your time from 8:45am to around 10:15am in the morning please let us know! Or if you have a special skill you would like to share e.g. cooking that would be great too! Let me know and we can have you come in at a different time.
You need to provide proof of vaccination and also have your Volunteer Working With Children Check (WWCC) to help.
Either call the Office or email me at melissa.hotham@cg.catholic.edu.au - letting me know your availability - (the days you are free and if you can do the whole time between 8:45am and 10:15am or a shorter time). Depending on the response we may have a roster so that you come in every few weeks or it may be weekly. We are hoping to start next term!
Have a lovely weekend.
Kind thoughts,
Melissa Hotham

Last Friday we celebrated the Feast Day of St Joseph by creating a special St Joseph’s table. Each child in the school created a symbol or chose an image to add to the table. It was clear that the students had done a lot of research and reflecting, to find and represent Joseph’s qualities in many ways. The table was a great tribute to our school’s patron saint.
As well as the symbols, each student wrote a prayer. I have chosen to share some of these heartfelt prayers with you. They demonstrate awareness and genuine concern for everything going on in the world around them.
Dear St Joseph:
Please help all the people who are suffering from Covid 19 to get better and have a healthy life again. We hope that everyone in hospital with Covid or other problems gets better and stays safe.

Dear St Joseph,
Please keep all travelers safe.

Dear Lord,
We pray for the people of the Ukraine and other people in wars. Please help them to stay safe. Please help them, St Joseph. Amen
Dear St Joseph,
Please help me with my family.

Dear Lord,
Please protect the endangered species around the world.

Dear St Joseph,
Please protect all truck drivers like my dad.

Dear St Joseph,
Please help me to grow up to help other people.

Dear St Joseph,
We pray for those who have been affected by the floods, that you send your love from heaven and give it to those who need it.
Amen
Thank-you to all who were able to join us for this celebration. These moments are made even more special and memorable for the individual students and the whole school community when family and friends are able to come and be with us.
Peace and blessings,
Leslie King

SRC SWEET TREATS STALL FUNDRAISER FOR VINNIES FLOOD APPEAL AND UKRAINE CRISIS APPEAL |
On Friday the 8th of April, coinciding with our school family picnic day, the St Joseph’s SRC are hosting a sweets stall fundraiser at recess and lunch with all proceeds going to the Vinnies Flood Appeal and Ukraine Crisis Appeal. The SRC feel these are both very worthy causes to donate to.
For this to be a success, the SRC need YOUR SUPPORT. They are asking for donations of cakes, biscuits, cupcakes, slices, and so on, to sell. These can be brought in on a paper plate covered with cling wrap or in a labelled container. Alternatively, the goodies could be packaged separately in cellophane bags. If each family can donate at least one item to the stall there will be plenty to sell!
If you are unable to get your tasty treats to the school early on the morning of Friday, the 8th of April, it would be appreciated if you could please drop them off on the Thursday afternoon prior.
On the day of the sweets stall, all school students and/or parents wishing to buy goodies will need to bring along coins/ notes to purchase from what we are certain will be a delicious selection of treats.
It is great to see our SRC and student body thinking of others, so let’s support them to support others for these VERY worthy causes. We appreciate any support provided. Thank you in advance!
2/3/4 Have had a busy week learning Daily Review with Mr M. Highlight of the week was cheering on class mate Saskia at Sydney Olympic Park Interdiocesan.
