Dear Parents and Carers,
NAPLAN
Naplan has been completed for another year. I congratulate our Year 3 and Year 5 students who managed the important week of assessments with growing confidence. Results are usually received by the school at the end of August.
Tell Them From Me Survey
In the coming weeks we will be inviting students, teachers and parents to provide feedback on their experience of our school using an online survey. The surveys are an important part of our whole school evaluation and planning process and we appreciate your participation in the survey.
Athletics Carnival
Details for our Athletics Carnival, to be held next week on Friday 27th May, have been sent to parents via Compass. Please ensure that you read and respond to the event as soon as you can.
WR Choir Competition
We have been invited to participate in the Western Region Choir Competition on Thursday 23rd June. Trinity Catholic School, Harden-Murrumburrah is hosting the event. We have already begun preparing for the event during Choir lessons. Only students that have chosen to attend choir will be able to join.
More details will be sent once the venue etc has been finalised, but please keep the date free. There will be two staff attending that will be able to transport some children, but parent transport will also be needed. Parents and friends are invited to attend to watch the performances also.
Additional Pupil Free Day Reminder
Please make sure you have added these dates your calendar for our additional pupil free days this term - Friday 10th June and Friday 1st July.
Kind thoughts,
Melissa Hotham
Principal
I love the vibrant colours of autumn leaves. They speak to me of change and chance. A chance to wake up and notice the world around us and its beauty, a chance to lift ourselves out of complacency and do things differently, and perhaps even a chance to make a change within ourselves. To me, autumn is the perfect catalyst for reflecting on the year that has been and making positive changes for the future. This means recognising things that we have learned and things we have done well as well as being open to resolving issues, building relationships and reflecting on things we could do better. After all that, autumn is just a wonderful time to be grateful for all the good things that we have in our lives, and with a second grandchild due any day now, this year I am especially revitalized and grateful for autumn’s gifts.
O God of Creation, you have blessed us with the changing of the seasons.
As we welcome the autumn months,
may the earlier setting of the sun
remind us to take time to rest.
May the brilliant colors of the leaves
remind us of the wonder of your creation.
May the steam of our breath in the cool air
remind us that it is you who give us the breath of life.
May the harvest from the fields remind us of the abundance we have been given and bounty we are to share with others.
May the dying of summer's spirit remind us of your great promise that death is temporary and life is eternal.
We praise you for your goodness forever and ever.
Amen

Congratulations to the Year 5/6 class, who very confidently and capably organised and presented a whole school prayer celebration last Friday about ‘Caring for our common home.’ Well done on working so collaboratively together.
