Dear Parents and Carers,
Congratulations
Congratulations to Sheridan, Myles, Brydie, Lettie and Harmony on the birth of their daughter - Eden. May your new baby bring you blessings and happiness.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Thank you to the parents who were able to attend parent-teacher interviews this week. I hope that you have found the interim report and interviews a valuable process in communicating how your child has commenced the new school year. If you were unable to attend, please contact your child’s teacher directly to make an alternate time.
Please remember that it does not need to just be “interview week” to meet with the teachers. Please feel free to contact staff directly anytime you wish to discuss your child’s schooling.
School Improvements
Construction has commenced on the new fence to Weddin St and Young St. It’s very exciting after such a long planning process! You will notice that temporary fencing has been erected for the safety of our students. I appreciate your patience when dropping off and picking up your children.
Last year the P&F engaged the services of landscape designer Sally Bourne. Included in her design was an outdoor learning space/vegetable garden area. The space is being created on the Young St side of the school with fencing extending to the Library building. As a result, there will no longer be an on-site carpark on this side of the school, with staff and visitors being asked to park either on the street in Young St or in the carpark between the school and Church. I have also submitted a grant application for the installation of garden beds etc in this space, fingers crossed that we receive good news.
Also, our facilities Officer from C.E visited our school today and met with me to discuss replacing the fencing on East St and installing a new fence between the school and Church to ensure that we are fully enclosed and safe for students. I am pleased to say that this has been approved and as soon as the modification is applied for and approved by Council, and materials delivered, this will take place.
Also in other exciting news, we have received the approved DA for the electronic signboard yesterday!!! This means that construction will be able to commence sometime soon. Further details will be provided as they come to hand.
Athletics Carnival
Next week is very busy with our Athletics Carnival on Tuesday at the Henry Lawson High School. Please ensure that you have provided consent on Compass for your child. Parents are welcome to join us, with the first event scheduled to commence at 9:45am.
Easter Fun Day
There’s not long to go now until the Easter holidays! The last day of school for the term will be Thursday 6th April. Students are invited to participate in an Easter Fun Day, by coming dressed in Easter mufti (eg Easter bonnet, bunny ears etc). Parents and family members are invited to join students for a shared BYO picnic at 1:20pm. Assembly will follow at 2pm, at which time the P&F Easter & Seafood Raffle will be drawn. Hope to see you there!
Term 2
Term 2 commences for students on Wednesday 26th April - Monday 24th April is the Staff Development Day (Pupil Free Day) and Tuesday 25th April is the public holiday for ANZAC Day.
Have a lovely weekend.

Palm Sunday
This Sunday is Palm Sunday which means we are entering Holy Week. In the days following Palm Sunday, we journey with Jesus during his final days here on earth. We remember his passion, death, and resurrection.
Way of the Cross
Over two thousand years ago, an event took place in Jerusalem that changed the history of our lives forever. The journey of Way of the Cross, also often referred to as Stations of the Cross, helps us to remember that day: the day where Jesus took up his cross and walked the path of love, a path that led him to give up his life on the Cross. Way of the Cross is a series of fourteen images, each telling a point in the story.
Next Wednesday at 10:30 am in the school library, the whole school will be taking part in a ‘Way of the Cross’ prayer service. We will remember what comes before Easter and stop and think about what happened to Jesus on Good Friday. The Year 2/3/4 students will be reading some prayers and reflections as our ‘Way of the Cross’. We will follow the way of the places Jesus carried the cross and reflect on all that happened in the lead up to Easter.
Lenten Prayer
Loving God,
You love all that you have made.
As we walk the way of the cross,
may we know you more deeply,
and love you more dearly,
and walk each day with you more closely.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
