Dear Parents and Carers,
Henry Lawson Festival - School’s Drama Day Reminders
Drama Day will be held TOMORROW Thursday June 8th at the Grenfell Public School Hall from 9.30am. Students and staff have been working VERY hard to prepare for the event and we can't wait to see it come together.
Students are to come to school tomorrow morning dressed in the following:
K/1: black/dark long sleeve shirt and black/dark pants or tights. Black school shoes. K/1 students will be given a costume t-shirt to wear over the top.
Jury/stage assistants: black/dark long sleeve shirts and black/dark pants/tights and black school shoes.
All other students: black/dark long sleeve shirt and black/dark pants and tights. Black school shoes. Costume provided to wear over the top.
Students will NOT be changing into school uniform when they return to school after the play and can stay in their casual clothes.
Students will be travelling by bus to the Public School. The bus will depart at 9:10am sharp. It would be great if students could arrive at school at 8:30am, but no later than 8:45am to get dressed into their costumes and be ready to go. Students will return to school by bus at the conclusion of the session for regular classes.
Parents are invited to join the audience. We have been advised, that in fairness to the performers, members of the audience will only be permitted entry BEFORE the start of a session and at the completion of a play.
Our school will take part in Session 1, which is scheduled to commence at 9:30am and end at approximately 11-11:30am.
Henry Lawson Festival - Parade
Students are invited to join with the school in participating in the Henry Lawson Festival Parade on Saturday 10th June. Please meet us at Short St at 12:45pm for a 1pm start. The theme of the festival is 'Faces in the Street'. Students are asked to come dressed in their SRC Career Day clothing, so that we can represent the various faces (careers) in our community. Props are encouraged to make our walking float stand out.
We look forward to seeing as many students and parents as possible in attendance.
Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning Survey
We would like to invite you to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning survey. As we value the role of parents and carers within our school community we would greatly appreciate your feedback. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing at St Joseph's Primary Grenfell.
The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. You are able to access the parent survey on your computer or mobile device by using the link in the Compass post sent to parents last week. Please contact the Office if you need help. The survey has been extended to Friday 16th June.
Tuesday 13th Lunch Order
Due to the King’s Birthday long weekend, Unwind have advised us that they will only be offering a hot dog and popper lunch order on Tuesday. If your child would like to order, please send to the office on Tuesday morning.
Jump into Joey's - Connect It!
Next Tuesday 13th June is our next Jump into Joey's session. This is for all children commencing school in 2024, regardless of school choice. The session starts at 10:30am and will be exploring learning technologies with 5/6. Children will stay and join with the St Joseph's students for recess after the session. Please share with any friends or family members that may be interested.

First Holy Communion
There are signs all around us which give us messages. We only have to look to see them.
Jesus gives us signs through the Church. A sacrament is a sign of Jesus' love, given to us through the Church. Through the sacraments we receive the gift of God's grace.
The Sacrament of First Holy Communion is when we receive Jesus under the form of bread and wine. When we receive Jesus for the first time, we receive First Holy Communion. After this, we can receive Jesus every time we go to Mass. Receiving Jesus on our First Holy Communion Day is one of the most important events in the lives of Catholic Christians.
This weekend, on Sunday, Kate Johnston and Maisie Baker will receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. Please keep them both in your prayers on this very special day.
Sunday Gospel Reflection (June 11)
Gospel Jn 6:51-58
“Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is my flesh, for the life of the world.” When met with the incredulity of the Jews, Jesus rephrases this statement in even more shocking terms: “If you do not eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you will have no life in you.” As Catholics, this language may wash over us. After all, Sunday after Sunday we hear the words - “Take and eat, this is my body, this is my blood, given for you.” The truth is these words of Jesus should in fact shake us. They should move and amaze us. Because, in reality, a radical and shocking promise is being expressed.
Jesus doesn’t mince his words here, and wants us to contemplate what this means: Each time we receive the Eucharist, we can rely on Jesus’ promise that through his death and resurrection, we can receive him in his entirety and therefore receive everything we need. Catholics, through participating in the Eucharist, have the very body and blood of Jesus to nourish and sustain them – which is infinitely more powerful than any resource, methodology or talent that can be mustered up. Let us lean into the power of the Eucharist and draw from it all we need to grow in our faith and help others effectively.
Dear Jesus,
May we trust in your promise and approach the Mass with full confidence
that you will fill us with your very life each time we receive the Eucharist.
May our disposition be one of receptivity,
that we might fully receive the graces contained within the mystery of the Eucharist.
Amen.
