Dear Parents & caers,
2/3/4 Mass
Yesterday we had the opportunity to gather in the Church as a school community to celebrate Mass, led by Year 2/3/4. The students did a wonderful job and we appreciate Fr Jiss coming to preside over the Mass.
Jump into Joey’s
In Week 2, we welcomed a group of preschool students for our ‘Connect It’ Jump into Joey’s session. The children participated in a coding activity to move their super heroes around the board to collect the jewels. They then played red/blue/purple games of memory before recess. Children had an adventurous morning, using the technology basics with 5/6.
We look forward to welcoming children for our next Jump into Joey’s session on Monday where children will get to explore music!
We are pleased to continue to offer music lessons to our students, thanks to the teaching of Mark Corkeroy from Young Regional Conservatorium of Music. Mark visits our school on Mondays to do class lessons, ukulele lessons and individual tutoring lessons. The students are very engaged and enjoying experiencing a variety of musical instruments and sounds.

NAIDOC MASS
On Friday the 26th of July, a group of staff and students from St Joseph’s attended the NAIDOC Regional Schools Mass in Young at St Mary’s Catholic Church. Hosted by Hennessy Catholic College, staff and students from other Catholic schools including Young, West Wyalong, and Cootamundra, as well as representatives from Catholic Education Canberra-Goulburn, were also in attendance. The theme was ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud’. This theme honours the strength and vitality of First Nations culture. Upon arrival, Aunty Enid and Brody performed a smoking ceremony for everyone to pass through. Along with students from the other schools involved, our students processed into the Mass with items of cultural significance, and led the readings and Prayers of the Faithful. Archdiocese NAIDOC Awards were then presented for leadership, promotion of culture, sporting and academic achievement. Afterwards, everyone came together to enjoy a delicious sausage sizzle lunch. Thank you to the staff and students at Hennessy Catholic College for hosting this special NAIDOC Mass. A very special thanks also to Father Jiss and Deacon Mark for presiding over the Mass.
Danielle McFarlane
Religious Education Coordinator
We would like to thank the parents and friends who make the St Joseph’s Breakfast Club possible on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week. As the cooler weather is upon us, something warm in the children’s tunnies when they arrive at school will be greatly appreciated. Thank you to everyone who makes this happen! Special Thanks to the Grenfell Foodhall for their support!
If you are unable to attend your rostered day please reach out to another family to swap day.
