Welcome back to Term 4. It was wonderful to see the students return to school happy and safe after their holidays looking smart in their summer uniforms. Thank you to all the current parents who came to the Open Evening yesterday to welcome our new and prospective parents for 2025! It was a beautiful community celebration with the children celebrating the work in their classrooms and enjoying a delicious meal together. A heartfelt thanks goes out to all the Community Council members and staff who planned, prepared and helped on the night.
Next Monday & Wednesday we welcome the Book Fair back to St Joseph's. All students have had the opportunity to visit the library and create their wish lists.
Please come on either Monday or Wednesday to support the Book Fair. All commission raised will be used in the next 12 months for new book purchases at St Joseph's Library.
We have a very busy term ahead with lots of events, and so we are asking parents to mark in their calendars our Presentation Evening on Thursday 12th December. This is an important opportunity to celebrate as a community the culmination of our students' effort, growth and successes across 2024.
Please note the following important reminders:
Berry Camp attendance confirmation: Could all parents of students in Year 2 to 6, please remember to confirm or decline if their child/ren will be attending the Berry Camp by this Friday 18th October.
Boorowa Touch and Netball Carnival confirmation: Staff organising this carnival need to know by Wednesday 23rd October (next week) whether your child is attending the carnival on Friday 25th October.
Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes: We thank those families who have returned their Samaritan’s Purse shoe boxes. This important charity has been operating for many years, and provides an opportunity for us to share in the joy of giving at Christmas to support those children in the world who are much less fortunate. We need all boxes returned to school, with items inside that children would enjoy, as soon as possible.
Just a final reminder that all children should have their hats and drink bottles packed each day during Term 4.
Kindest regards,
Katie Thompson

Year Six Graduation Mass Photos
The end of the year is not far away, and it is time for parents of our Year Six students to start delving into their photo collections to find various school-related photos (approximately 16) of your child for our end of year Graduation Mass presentation. The presentation is always a very special part of the Graduation evening. The photos can be sent to me via school on a USB or emailed to the email address below. If you have any questions, or difficulty sending photos, please let me know. The photos are required by no later than Monday December 2.

Samaritans Purse – Operation Christmas Child
This year we ask for your generosity in helping us collect enough items to fill one shoebox (or more, depending on how much we collect) with gifts for a child in need. We require quality items that will last. Items could include toys, clothing, hygiene items, and/or school supplies. It could also include a “wow” item such as a doll, or soccer ball, or stuffed animal. We will include a note about our school and photo in the box to send to the child. We ask that families donate items by the close of next week, so please send anything you can with your child to school. All children who donate an item will be rewarded with a certificate of appreciation and icy pole. We thank you in advance for your extremely generous support.
Mission Day Events
This year, our Mission Day will focus on children who have been abandoned, who are homeless, or who come from vulnerable backgrounds in Mongolia, and we need your help!
Please keep aside those loose coins floating around in your purse, home or car. Each student will be asked to bring them to school on Thursday October 31 for a fun-filled day, which will conclude with our school sports houses (Xavier, Dominic, and Augustine) challenging each other to see who can create the longest trail of coins. The sports house who creates the longest trail will receive a reward for their efforts, so please make every coin count! The students will also learn more about this year’s focus country of Mongolia and participate in a special Mission Day liturgy led by Year 5/6, to add to the meaning of the day, followed by a range of exciting round robin activities. We thank you for your ongoing support!
