Dear parents and carers,
As we move toward the end of our last week of school for this year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have supported our children through your various different types of volunteer work during this year. Many have taken the time to carry out different tasks that when combined have had the effect of assisting the education of our children. So thank you, to all of you.
I would also like to thank members of the wider Grenfell community for your support during this year, there are many things that go on in the background that help to support the success of our school, so thank you to all those who have supported us in the myriad of different ways across this year.
Thank you to the staff who have also worked hard to encourage the development and growth of our children during this year.
Congratulations to ALL of our children on their efforts this year. Learning new facts and skills is not always easy to do, but our children have done exceptionally well in a range of different pursuits during this year, congratulations on your efforts children! Well done to all of those children who have received particular awards for their efforts.
To our departing students, we wish you well as you move to new places and spaces!
Already, we are beginning to think about 2020 and what things we’d like to see happen again… Some children will be in the same room, while others will continue to work in familiar surroundings.
2020 Term dates – some important dates for 2020 are as follows:
January 28: Staff day
January 29: Students commence 2019 school year
April 09: Last day of Term 1
April 28: Students return for Term 2
This week we have continued watching the works project that is taking place here at school. The new exterior cladding has been installed along with work on the entry. The next steps involve completing the cladding work and installing the galvanised handrails. The children have been very interested in watching the progress of the works.
School Fees – Now is the time to finalise any outstanding payments for 2019.
Thank you to those families who have already paid the fees for this term. If your family is experiencing difficulties paying school fees, please make contact with Therese Clancy at school for assistance.
Calendar - we already have a number of plans in place for next year, and dates that we have available have been included. Please note that there may be some minor changes.
We are also updating this information on our school website and adding it to the news feed. The site can be found at
https://www.stjosephsgrenfell.nsw.edu.au/
School Bus zones - Please note the following information in relation to speed zones around schools:
A reminder to all our parents ahead of the Christmas holiday break at the end of Term 4 that school zones remain in place for the safety of our children and families.
School zones operate on all gazetted school days, which are all days the school is open, even pupil free days.
For most NSW Catholic schools, school zones operate as normal until (and include) Friday December 20, 2019 and resume on Tuesday January 28, 2020.
Note: even though some schools will elect to have some of these days as pupil free days, school zones will be in operation on all gazetted school days, whether students are present or not.
P & F News – Please note the Annual General Meeting is to be held on Tuesday February 18, 2020 at 7:00pm in our school library. All executive positions will be vacant.
Library - Well done to everyone who has been looking out for overdue library books and returning these to school. This week we’ve had a number of books handed in which is terrific to see. Over the last few weeks, we have found a lot of books, including one that was overdue by 1243 days…
Christmas masses - This year there will be two masses at Christmas time, a 6.00 pm Vigil Mass on Tuesday 24th December and a 9.00 am Mass on Christmas day, Wednesday 25th December. The 6.00 pm mass will be a Children’s Mass so we would like to have some student participation, especially as readers and taking up the offertory. If you would be able to help, please contact Mary Moffitt on 6343 1575 or 0419 440 692.
I trust that you all enjoy a Happy and Holy Christmas period, and that the new year brings you many successes.
Sincerely
It is time to say goodbye to another school year. I wish you all a very happy and holy Christmas and safe travelling to whatever your destination/s may be. Enjoy some time with family and friends and before you know it, we will be back to do it all again in 2020!
