Swimming Carnival – Thank you to everyone who came along to our swimming carnival – the children enjoyed themselves and competition was very good.
In particular, I would like to thank Isobel, Megan, Nichola, Jenny, Lily and Frank for their assistance to enable us to use the electronic timing system. This was invaluable in ensuring that events were timed accurately and flowed smoothly.
Thank you also goes to Leann, Susan and Amelia who made sure that we were all safe on the night.
Thank you also to Rob, Sarah, Patrick, Jaclyn, Somara, Anthony and Patrick for acting as timekeepers.
Good luck to our Western Region Swimming team – the WR carnival is set down for Monday at Harden.
We look forward to hearing about your successes next week.
Swim Safe – please be aware that our program did not take place today, due to mechanical issues at the pool pump house. We understand that the program will continue as normal tomorrow.
Working with Children Checks - we are endeavouring to ensure that our processes at school are in line with those across a range of areas. Please remember to forward a copy of your working with children check as soon as you have it available. All parents and community members who assist us at school are requested to obtain a WWCC. http://www.kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au/child-safe-organisations/working-with-children-check/apply/apply
There is no cost for volunteer checks. If you already have a current volunteer WWCC as part of your involvement in children’s sports or other programs outside of school, we would appreciate if you would send a copy to school.
We thank you for your understanding and cooperation in completing these checks.

Thank you to all who were able to come to the Opening Mass yesterday. This is definitely one of my favourite masses of the year. The Kinders are shy but excited, the new school leaders are happy and proud to have been chosen for their roles, and, of course, the parents are proud of their children’s achievements. It is always a great memory making experience for all involved.
Father James was our celebrant and he entertained the children with stories of his childhood and his impromptu singing. He was also delighted to receive his own star to place on the St Joseph’s School banner. We also officially welcomed Mr Martens into the St Joseph’s school community.
Many blessings,
2/3/4 have enjoyed a busy start to the year, getting used to a new teacher and taking part in lots of new activities.
We have been looking at several ideas in art and have been focusing on colours, looking at cool and warm colours, identifying primary and secondary colours and talking about contrasting and complimentary colours. Students created some mountains using patterns and contrasting warm and cool colours.
Mrs Best has been joining us to help with R.E. We have been talking change during the catholic calendar and our lives.
We have enjoyed practising some more Japanese and Mr Martens has taught us some Wiradjuri language as well as well.
