Dear Parents and Carers,
During a routine compliance check of the preschool and facilities being used at St Joseph’s, it was noted that there were some areas in the hall where the paint was flaking. During subsequent testing, the paint was found to have traces of lead.
To ensure the safety of all
- the preschool has ceased operation from the hall
- Breakfast Club has been suspended
- a representative from Catholic Education has visited the site and is organising remediation of the problem and repainting of the building
- children in the school will not be using the hall
Please note other areas of the school are not effected and the hall is the only place in the school with the problem.
We will keep families informed as we receive further advice and information.
It has been an absolute delight to work in your beautiful school this week. The staff and children have provided a warm and friendly welcome to a visitor from the city. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to attend the Mass for Mission with the school and share in the prayer life of the school. I count this week as a blessing.
Thank you,
Ann Staines

Due to the generous support of our community, we collected many boxes made up of toys, hygiene products and stationery, for children in need. Thank you for bringing hope to others.
Mission Day Events
Yesterday we held our Catholic Mission Day. The aim of our Mission Day was to cultivate the passion of students to rise up and take action against poverty. This provides students with the opportunity to lead in mission, encouraging them to think not only of what they will do to help, but why they will do it.
We commenced proceedings with a Mission Day Mass at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, presided over by Father JIss and led admirably by Year 5/6. All students then participated in a range of fun activities in the afternoon, finished off with a contest to see which Sports House could make the longest coin trail.
Our Mission Day focus country this year was Mongolia and, thanks to all the coins brought to school, the funds raised will go to Catholic Mission who will direct the money towards providing nutritious meals, purchasing essential school supplies to support their education, and providing warm winter clothing for the cold Mongolian winters.
Congratulations to Xavier for being the winning Sports House with the longest coin trail!
Prayers for the Unwell
We extend our prayers to Leslie King and Ron and Jan McLelland who are not well at the moment. We are thinking of them all.
Nurturing God of love,
we pray today for those who are ill.
They all need a sense of Your presence and an experience of Your powerful healing presence.
Send your Spirit to everyone in need that pain may be eased,
that wounds may be healed, that fear may be overcome, that recovery may be swift and complete,
that the entire experience may be one that strengthens faith, gives hope and encourages them to walk humbly with You, Lord God.
We ask that cures may be found for diseases that are still a mystery. We pray that researchers may have Your guidance and wisdom as they search for these new cures. Bless with insight those who toil in the laboratory.
May we all be responsible in the care that we give to one another.
We pray for doctors who diagnose and prescribe and nurses who care.
Bless families and all caregivers who stand by with comfort and support.
May the 'healing hand' of Jesus rest gently on all of us.
Amen.
All Saints’ Day
This weekend the Catholic Church will celebrate All Saints’ Day. Whilst there are many special feast days set aside to recognise well-known saints, All Saints Day recognises all of the saints, both known and unknown. It is a special day for us to acknowledge their efforts and appreciate that we can look to them as role models for our own lives.
Class Mass Dates
Please note in your diaries the following Mass dates:
- November 6 (Wednesday) – Kindergarten/ Year 1 Class Mass
- December 17 (Tuesday) – End of Year/ Year 6 Graduation Mass
We welcome everyone to attend these very special events at St Joseph’s Church.

Please note that a Mass will be held every Sunday at St Joseph’s Church, Grenfell, in the lead-up to Christmas this year.

A big congratulations to all students in classes 2-6 who travelled to Boorowa today to compete in the multi-school touch footy and netball carnival.
All students represented our St Joseph's school community with pride. The students showed tremendous determination, grit, and great sportsmanship throughout the day.
They all demonstrated wonderful teamwork skills- supporting each other on and on the field.
St Josephs' school community extends a warm congradulations to the Monesh family on the arrival of
Eliza Mariam Monesh.
Wishing you all the best. We look forward to watching Eliza grow and thrive in the years to come.
The 2024 Book Fair was a great success for St Joseph's School community. It was wonderful to see so many students and families coming through the library over the two days to make purchases from the range of items on sale.
We made over $1200.00 in sales over the two days. This provided the school with a commission of over $350.00, which allowed us to select a good sized collection of books from the fair to add to our school library resources.
The students also enjoyed participating in this year's bonus Book Fair raffle. A big congratulations goes out to the lucky winner in Kindergarten - Ziggy, who was fortunate enough to win this year's $50 book pack.
I would like to thank all families for your involvement, as through your support of this year's fair, the school was able to purchase a good range of new resources for our school library.
Thank you all once again. We all look forward to next year's Book Fair.
Happy Reading!
Miss Dee
Due to unforseen circumstances Breakfast Club will remain closed for week 5 & 6.
Thanks for your understanding.
